Shield is a commercial stage specialty pharmaceutical company with a focus on addressing iron deficiency with its lead product Accrufer®/Feraccru® (ferric maltol). Accrufer®/Feraccru® (ferric maltol) is a novel, stable, non-salt based oral therapy for adults with iron deficiency, with or without anemia. Accrufer®/Feraccru® has a novel mechanism of action compared to other oral iron therapies and has been shown to be an efficacious and well-tolerated therapy in a range of clinical trials. Role Description Summary

Reporting to the Group Financial Controller (GFC), the Finance Manager will support Shield’s Finance and Accounting teams. The primary objective of this role will be to support the existing finance and accounting teams with International Financial Reporting (IFRS) and US GAAP accounting requirements and prepare periodic financial results and management reporting.

Core Accountabilities
  • Lead technical reviewer for regional statutory financial statements ensuring local teams are supported on financial reporting and technical accounting matters (IFRS and US GAAP)
  • Function as a technical accounting resource and advisor on key/complex accounting areas and transactions and supporting the regional finance teams to reach conclusions based on guidance and policy
  • Prepare management accounts, to include providing accurate management report information for all company groups
  • Support the regional finance teams to reach conclusions based on guidance and policy
  • Maintain oversight of tangible and intangible assets registers
  • Prepare revenue journal entries, gross-to-net and account reconciliations
  • Assist in the valuation of inventory, considering the requirement for any inventory write-offs
  • Assist with preparation of the annual report
  • Ownership of accruals schedules, responsible for advising GFC if there is a requirement to record prepayments
  • Communicate findings in memos to management and auditors and draft policy documents as needed, in accordance with IFRS and US GAAP
  • Maintain and update existing Company policies, and assist with drafting new policies during the year in response to changes in respective areas
  • Keep up to date on latest accounting guidance, IFRS and US GAAP, including interpretation and implementation of newly issued accounting and regulatory standards
  • Interface with external auditors for periodic financial reviews, and other inquiries
  • Suggest and participate in discussions regarding process efficiencies including, but not limited to, operational/system improvements projects
  • Work on other ad-hoc projects as deemed necessary in a changing environment
Required Skills & Experiences
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 8+ years of experience working with financial reporting packages in either an audit or close environment required
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, growing organization
  • Essential qualified ACA or ACCA with recent exposure to PLC reporting requirements
  • Understanding of US GAAP and IFRS with a strong ability to interpret and apply technical accounting literature preferred
  • Multi-currency and FX experience is preferred
  • Excellent working knowledge in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience of implementing and using enterprise level accounting systems desirable (Ex. SAP, Netsuite, Sage)
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of Confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact in a professional manner with senior level managers, peers, and business partners
  • Demonstrated ability to independently research and interpret accounting literature and document accounting positions
